About
Illustrator & Academic
The main focus of my freelance career has been editorial illustration but I have produced work for a wide range of contexts including book jacket design, poster design, map illustration, packaging, typographic design. My commissions have generally been split between the U.S. and the U.K. but I have worked for clients across the globe.
Having started as a painter using acrylic paint, I have used a variety of media most notably relief print (lino & woodcut) but now consider myself to be a digital illustrator using both Photoshop and Procreate to produce my illustrations. My love of texture combined with graphic, flattened perspective remains central to my work.

Hand rendered typography features in much of my work. This interest originates from studying Graphic Design at Central St. Martins College in London.

More recently I have become interested in animation and motion graphics. This is offering me interesting opportunities to combine my other love of writing, performing and recording music with my visual art.

I also teach Illustration at Falmouth University in Cornwall, UK. I was Head of Illustration for nine years and am currently studying for a PhD, also at Falmouth.
